Prowers County Public Health Jop Opening

Prowers County Public Health and Environment is in search of a new employee to hold the position of Covid-19 Contact Tracer. The full-time, salaried position offers health insurance, retirement options, paid time off and more. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel. Lamar Animal Shelter Adoption Process

The adoption process for Lamar Animal shelter animals remains to be a fairly simple process. Sara McCloskey shares this information. “You must be at least 18 years or older to adopt with us, and have a valid ID. The adoption fee is $50, but it’s more about making sure your animal is a good match for your lifestyle.” said McCloskey. State

Colorado State Fair

The Colorado State Fair Board of Authority has voted to hold a variety of competitive activities at the Colorado State Fairgrounds as part of the reimagined 2020 State Fair August 28-September 7. The 2020 competitive events are not open to the public and will operate with strict indoor and outdoor health protocols in place. Protocols include: limited guests accompanying youth competitors and livestreamed events on the State Fair Website. The public is invited to take in a taste of the fair with a Drive-Thru Fair Food Event, taking place August 28-31. For updates on the latest Colorado State Fair information call 719-561-8484.



Wichita Schools Orientation

New teacher orientation looks different this year for Wichita schools. Teachers and staff members for the Wichita School District met their coworkers virtually Monday. Teacher coaches showed the new recruits what they can expect for the school year. Coordinator Tammy Martin said "It used to be at high schools, we have hundreds of people there, we have a band, we have cheerleaders. It's a big welcome party. Today, our party looks a little bit different." The district said Monday's orientation is meant to help staff use the in-person teaching strategies they've already learned and apply them to remote learning, as well.


CHASA Sports Calendar

High school sports will have a new look heading into the school year. The Colorado High School Activities Association or CHASA has split all sports into four seasons.Typical fall sports like football and girls' volleyball will be moved to the spring season. Governor Jared Polis says the non-contact sports of cross-country, golf,tennis and softball will be the only sports between now and mid-October. Football season for Colorado schools will begin in late-February.


CDOT Campaign

The Colorado Department of Transportation is starting a new seat belt campaign. CDOT spokesperson Sam Cole says the "Reasons" campaign features a list of why people should buckle up. The Colorado Department of Transportation “Reasons” Campaign also features one newly posted sign commenting on how busy nurses are during the pandemic.
