Small Business Pledge
The City of Lamar has created the Safe Business Pledge which lets customers know that a business is doing their part to keep employees and customers safe. By voluntarily agreeing to a small checklist, local businesses will receive a “We took the Pledge” poster to proudly show customers how they are committed to their safety. Pocket Park Food Trucks
The Lamar Chamber of Commerce is making the downtown Pocket Park available for outdoor dining through the holidays. Food Cart vendors that are interested in participating should contact Valerie Baldwin at the Lamar Chamber of Commerce at 336-4379, Monday through Friday by 3pm for details. Vendors can participate all three days, Friday through Sunday, or any of those three days of their choosing. The food cart will be open for business beginning Friday, December 4th. The event is in coordination with the City of Lamar’s Shop Small, Shop Local, Shop Lamar campaign.
Farmers and Ranchers Assistance Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency reminds farmers and ranchers to apply for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 by Friday December 11, 2020. This program provides direct relief to producers facing market disruptions and associated costs because of COVID-19. With over 300 eligible commodities, from livestock and row crops to specialty crops and aquaculture, most farmers and ranchers are potentially eligible for the food assistance program. Call 877-508-8364 to speak directly with a USDA employee who is ready to offer general assistance.
Colorado Gives Record
A record-breaking Colorado Gives Day wrapped up early Wednesday morning with just over $50 million raised for local nonprofit organizations. Coloradans opened their hearts in a big way, donating to 2,828 organizations over the 24 hour Colorado Gives Day. The statewide movement, held each year one week after Giving Tuesday, celebrates philanthropy in Colorado through online giving at www.ColoradoGives.org. Colorado Gives Day is one of the most successful days of giving in the U.S., according to the Community First Foundation.
Colorado Vaccine Plan
Colorado has finalized its plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine starting this month. Governor Jared Polis says the state expects the first shipment of Pfizer vaccines next week. Scott Bookman says people with pre-existing health conditions will be included in Phase Two of COVID-19 vaccine distribution. General vaccine distribution to the public is not expected until the start of the summer of 2021.
Colorado Restaurant Association
The Colorado Restaurant Foundation is now accepting applications for the second round of their Winter Outdoor Grant Program! Colorado-based restaurants may apply for grants of up to $10,000, to help winterize patio space for continued outdoor dining. Some eligibility requirements include, restaurants that are open at least 5 days per week, proof of hardship, and more.
