Prowers County Free Legal Clinic

The Next Prowers County Free Legal clinic has been scheduled for Wednesday February 3rd from 2-5pm. All Virtual Pro Se Clinics are being held as scheduled. Now, instead of clinic patrons coming to the local public library, Lamar Public Library staff will schedule all appointments. Free Legal Clinic Participants are encouraged to provide a reliable phone number, so the volunteer attorney can call the clinic patron's telephone during scheduled clinic hours. Contact the Lamar Public Library at 336-4632 to be added to the sign-up sheet as space is limited.

High Plains Community Health Center

High Plains Community Health Center’s Shae Emmik reminds area residents of their walk-in clinic available to patients in need of care. Telehealth visits are also available for appointments from your car, home, or any other remote location. Discount programs are also available to some qualifying individuals for medical expenses at High Plains Community Health Center. For questions or to schedule an appointment. Prowers County Vaccine Clinics

Vaccine clinics are expected to open next week. Current providers for the public in Prowers County include Prowers County Public Health and Environment, High Plains Community Health Center, Safeway Pharmacy and Willow Creek Pharmacy. PCPHE is planning on additional clinics once vaccine supplies arrive from the state. If you are on multiple waitlists, please let the other facilities know if you get your vaccine so that your spot can be given to someone else. Free community testing continues at High Plains community Health Center Monday through Friday beginning at 11am. Call 719-336-8721 to schedule a test.

Prowers County Extension 4-H

Prowers County Extension 4-H continues with open enrollment through March 1st, 2021. 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent Amber Comer announces some of the upcoming events through Prowers County 4-H. 4H is also in the process of providing STEM activities on their Facebook page which include at home lessons for students. Some events do not require 4-H membership, and more information can be found by visiting the Prowers County Extension website.


Colorado COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

Colorado state health officials have outlined ways to ensure the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed fairly across the state populations. Jill Ryan for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says a person's immigration status will not prevent them from getting access to the treatment. CDPHE is also launching campaigns to help reduce fears among populations, and will provide pop-up clinics in spots that lack access to medical facilities.


Finney county 4-H Service Project

Pillowcases and blankets were sewed by Finney County Kansas area 4-H members. The gifts were donated to the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center as part of their community service project Sewing for Service. Workshops were held to construct the items and anywhere between eight and 10 people attended each one. Overall there were about 14 Finney County 4-H members who helped create a total of 30 blankets and 30 pillow cases.
